“Peace is our gift to each other”, Elie Wiesel.
In order to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi Grade 2 to 8 students
conducted an assembly on the topic ‘peace’. The focus was, that our school and
this country has people of all nationalities live in harmony. Children conducted
the assembly in four languages – English, Hindi, Arabic, and French.
Students sang the song ‘Heal the World’ and
encouraged others to join them in the song of peace. Then a few of them came
forward dressed as messengers of peace – Mahatma Gandhiji, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Junior and Mother
Teresa and addressed the gathering. This was followed by a dance for peace.
A short motivational
speech was given by a parent on how peaceful it is to live in UAE, her talk
highlighted about tolerance practiced in the country, how people of various
nationalities that speak different languages live here in agreement. The entire
assembly was a celebration of harmony, emphasizing on the fact that peace is
all that the world needs.
